from the
Retiree Club

President

Don McLeod Sr.

This letter is to inform everyone that Local 252 has a Retiree Council that is active, and invite you to join in with us.  The current officers are:  Don McLeod Sr., President, Open Position, Vice President, Vern Irish, Recording Secretary, Tom Freudenstein, Secretary/Treasurer.  Trustees: #1 Don Yeager, #2 Don Jensen, #3 Open Position.
The purpose of our council is to gather information of interest to the membership. (We have had speakers from the International Union, District Council, Trust office, etc.)
To discuss current political issues and races, and to get information about candidates who support the working people. Many make promises, but fail to follow through when elected.
Each year we have visited the Laborers Training School at Kingston. It is interesting to see the new technology that is being taught to the apprentices, and up dating the skills of the journeyman. In today's marketplace we must strive to make our union contractors the leaders in their field. Our training school is known through out the country as being outstanding in adapting to every challenge in the industry.
100 year Anniversary. The year 2003 will be the 100th year our union has represented the working men and women of North America.  In conjunction with this event the school has started class on the history of the Laborers and the various work tasks preformed by our members. They have done several interviews, and anyone with a story relating to laborers work can contact the agent in your area. We are hoping to have more on this project at our next meeting.
